  • Idea: control by amplitude?

First off, thanks for a great program.

Is there a way to make different amplitudes on the phone or wiimote axis to correspond to different actions? It would be outrageous if I could trigger a clip in ableton by making a slight movement in a certain direction and a different one by making a strong movement in that direction.

Is this in osculator already somehow? Maybe there is an additional program that would help.

    Hey meecrob,

    Here's something you can try:

Using the Wiimote, activate the Raw Accelerations (xyz), and select an axis in the list (x, y or z). (you can first visualize the data with a Quick Look window to see what axis corresponds to what gesture). Then do Edit->Split.

This will make two splits of this axis to which you trigger different events.

The problem is that it doesn't make a very good impulse detector at all, and based on what you really want to do, you may find that it is not working totally fine. At this stage, a good idea would be to fiddle with the scalings (View->Flip to scalings page) to change the moment at which the trigger occurs. Again, Quick Look windows are you friend, just remember that an event is triggered when it crosses the value 0.5.

If you want to use more advanced trigger detectors (that uses hysteresis for example), Processing or Pure Data will be more appropriate.

    Best,

    Cam
