  • buying a bluetooth adapter for G5

hey people, first post for me.

first of all: I like the software (otherwise I wouldn't have bought it, LOL).

I want to experiment with the wiimote and my (aging gracefully) G5 2*2.0GHz with os x 10.5.8.

Yes, I know, it's old (but not as old as my tiBook 667MHz).

Now, it doesn't have a bluetooth adapter and I need one to use the wiimote directly (I've been experimenting with an Arduino as intermediary).

Can someone recommend a cheap one?

    Thanks,

    Jurjan

    Hi Jurjan,

    I use a G5 2x2Ghz machine too with OSCulator.

The bluetooth adapter I'm using is the 'Hama Nano Bluetooth USB Adapter, version 2.1+EDR class2' (Model No. 00049232), which works really well and was about €14 when I bought it.

        Hey Jurjan,

i was about to advice this adapter as well.

I think it basically the same as photonal's.

I am curious to know about your experience. Would you mind sharing the results with us?

        Thanks,

        Cam

Good luck with the Belkin - I had one before I got the Hama, the Belkin Adapter stopped working after about six months and I threw it away (couldn't return it as I no longer had my receipt).

When I've got it (will be a week, or more... sigh) I'll report back.

AFTER playing around with it for a while (NOT six months though).

            thanks for the feedback.

Got it, it works like a charm and is super small.

                Thanks photonal for the tip!

Ok, I finally got my adapter, sigh...

and it was more expensive then originally stated too!

However, I just inserted it, and it worked, no drivers necessary.

I (after some fiddling and not understanding on my part) got it recognizing one of my

wiimotes. It's very small, just sticking out of the usb port on the front of my G5.

I didn't have time to play around much, that'll come soonish (it's the festive season after all, time to visit family and friends.

I'll try to keep you all posted.
