  • Y value in TouchOSC XY pad inverted

    Hi,

I am using TouchOSC together with Osculator (RC2), and have made a simply XY pad using TouchOSC.

However, when I monitor this pad in Osculator ("Quick Look"), I notice that the Y parameter has been inverted.

In other words, when I am moving my finger upwards on my vertically oriented iPhone, the value is going towards zero. When I am moving it downward, the value of the Y parameter is going towards "1".

Is this a bug in TouchOSC or in Osculator?

    Thanks.

    regards,

    Øivind.

    Hi Øivind,

What you are seeing is not a bug, but rather a convention that was chosen by TouchOSC's developer. To get aroung this:

    - open the Scalings Page in the View menu

    - swap the values in the Input Min and Max field (put 1.0 in min, and 0.0 in max).

    - you're done :-)

    Best,

    Cam

Ah, great - thanks for your help!

(strange convention, btw - when you move your finger upwards, you'd rather that the value also rises; oh well

I agree, but in fact it makes sense when you think about the fact that the iPhone can be used in portrait or landscape mode :-)
