Can I connect Osculator to The Gimp for Mac? The Gimp is expecting some type of device file (/dev/...) to connect to. Does Osculator provide that?

    Hey Fulldecent,

Sorry there's no way to write to a file handler.

Do you have an idea in mind?

    Maybe there's another solution?

I'd like to use iPhone/TouchOSC and iPad to control Gimp, an image editing software. Gimp connects to MIDI the Linux way, and it was ported to Mac without all the Mac niceties. Here is the configuration screen:

        ok, I see.

The problem that you have is that Gimp was initially written for Linux, and that this port has been done without implementing this functionality in the Mac OS X world, rendering it almost useless.

From what I understand, it would require to write a small utility that receives CoreMIDI (Mac OS X) events and output the raw MIDI stream to a file descriptor (/dev/midi for example). It could be written in the Perl or Python programming language … without being totally sure that it would work.
