  • Xbox 360 Controller Emulation and Support for Steam Games

I've recently been trying to play games that are xbox 360 controller enabled on Steam. When I try to map my Wiimote to HID there are certain keys that are not even picked up by the settings inside the game. For example, the game Bastion is simply not picking up all the HID buttons (I think it picks up like 3 buttons). I have had to resort to mapping my buttons to keyboard keys, but it's annoying since I have to use the mouse to target in this particular game (Bastion). Is there any chance that Xbox 360 controller emulation could be added? I know there's something similar to this in Windows (x360ce: https://docs.google.com/document/pub...PP_uVI8oLpQKTI). At the very least, is there any chance better support could provided for Steam games? Or perhaps there's some sort of Steam profile/preset somewhere that I can get my hands on, similar to pinnacle game profiler (http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/pc-c...c-af/b/bastion)? Any advice/suggestion on this would be welcomed. I'm also aware of an Xbox 360 controller driver for mac; don't know if it will help... (http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/Pro...ller/OsxDriver). Thanks.

Xbox 360 Controller Emulation and Support for Steam Games

I've been trying to play Steam games with Osculator, and it seems as though most of the joystick buttons are unrecognized. For example, I've tried playing the game Bastion with the Wii classic controller as a joystick, and I can only get about 4 buttons to be recognized. Is there any chance xbox 360 controller emulation will be added to Osculator or support for gamepad-enabled Steam games? I'm aware there's an Xbox 360 controller driver for Mac OSX and that there's an emulation program X360CE for Windows. Any way these could be used with Osculator?

Well, after some research, I've managed to find that there are issues with the config files under Steam. I did another test with Left4Dead2 and was able to fix part of my problem by manually adjusting the sensitivity settings inside the config file. Left4Dead2 seems to also do a better job at recognizing the Osculator virtual joystick buttons, so what this means is that the issue lies more with Steam settings and the individual games (in this particular case Bastion... see http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2679050).

        Hi,

OSCulator's virtual HID device is very simple and should work with most games.
You will find on this forum another user having the same problems with games distributed with games from Steam. It seems like they just don't support the HID protocol properly.

Another solution for you would be to use a gamepad that is more supported by these games. Since they are ports from Windows, I think an Xbox 360 gamepad with the USB wireless receiver would work. I have not tried with a game coming from Steam, but I managed to use this gamepad on my Mac just as it was on a Window PC.
