Osculator crash on startup when Space Navigator is installed on OSx 10.10.3

Hi Im trying to get Osculator to use the Space Navigator - but as soon as I installed the latest Space Navigator software Osculator crashes on startup.

    I am using Osculator Version 2.13.2 (20140918)

If I uninstall the Space Navigator software Osculator works again.

    Any ideas whats wrong?

    Hello,

Thank you for reporting that issue.
I will look into that as soon as I have access to my space navigator.

    Best,
    Cam

    Dear Dizzybanjo,

The problem occurs with the latest version of the driver (3DxWareMac_v10-2-2_r1925.dmg) and might occur with later versions.
I have contacted 3Dconnexion about this issue, in the hope they will listen to my request.
If the problem is not solved on their side, OSCulator will be updated in the future. Hopefully there is a temporary workaround.

If you don't need the absolute latest version of 3DxWare, you can still install an older version.
This what I did to have the SpaceNavigator and OSCulator work on Yosemite:

If you have a version of the 3DxWare already installed on your system, uninstall it (see in the Applications/3DxWare folder, there is a uninstaller).

    - go to legacy drivers page (http://www.3dconnexion.fr/service/legacy-driver.html),
    - download 3DxMacWare 1.7.2 (3Dxwaremac-1.7.2.dmg),
    - go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy, and temporarily set the setting "Allow apps downloaded from:" to "Anywhere",
    - run the installer,
    - restart your computer,
    - don't forget to turn back the "Allow apps downloaded from:" to what it was before you changed it. I personally set it to "Mac App Store and identified developers".

Now OSCulator works with the Space Navigator on Yosemite.

    Best Regards,
    Camille

    Hi Again ...

Are there any known conflicts with Progs like Controllermate or Logitech Unifying ??

I am getting some error that some kexts are not usable any more ..

But that was already before i installed the drivers.

    Best Regards

    Luigi

    Hi Luigi,

OSCulator does not have known bad conflict with other software or kernel extension.

    Best,
    Cam

    Hm still no luck ..

I deleted all "kexts" that produced an error ..

Installed the connection driver and oscillator again.

I can see the "Use space mouse" in the menu - its not greyed out - But if i click the "tick" will not stay.

I even tried to start in 32 Bit Mode - No Luck.

    Any Ideas ?

    Even for "debugging" ??

    Best Regards

    Luigi

    Hi,

    still crashing.

If I understand the crash-report correctly, OSCulator relies on Garbage Collection, right? Isn't this deprecated on OS X?

Could You at least prevent the loading of '/Library/Frameworks/3DconnexionClient.framework/Versions/A/3DconnexionClient' which seems to cause the crash directly as a workaround?

(My coding-skills are rather limited, so I hope, that I don't write complete non-sense here.)

    Thanks and best regards
    Christian
