  • Osculator dropped default IP and target randomly

title says it. all of a sudden everything stopped working to that particular device, an X-32 in this case.

Ant idea why that might have happened?
    Happen to anyone else.

That would be terrible in a live situation.

    Hi DBNoisemaker,

In the current version of OSCulator, the default target is replaced by the first OSC service discovered on the network. To avoid the default target of being replaced, the workaround is simple: just set the default target to an empty slot.

Like you, some users viewed this behavior as a problem so I changed the discovery rule: if you manually specify something it will never be replaced even if the chosen slot is the default target.

I was waiting for more feedback to release an update, but I guess now is time. I will let you know when it is available.

        hello,
so how does it work now? My target is localhost and I control something in Max/msp with a Wii controller. Suddenly the taget switched to a random laptop. How can I avoid that?

                  Hi Dieter,

You may have to clear and re-enter the target you specified to make it so OSCulator takes in account this is a user-defined target. Otherwise you can workaround by following the advice explained in the second message of this thread.

                  Best,
                  Cam

Yes, and make sure the OSC routes (at the bottom of this pane), are using the target number 2.
