  • An alternative app for some OSCulator users (AV device control)

I'm the creator of Banyan AVBridge, a utility app that allows controlling AV devices using MIDI, OSC, and HTTP. I had someone reach out the other day looking for alternatives to OSCulator, since it is end-of-life soon. They were looking for a way to use ProPresenter, which can only output MIDI, to control an AV device that only accepts OSC. AVBridge didn't support converting MIDI to arbitrary OSC at the time, but since hearing that OSCulator is going away, I quickly pushed an update to AVBridge to support this use case.

I'm posting here in case anyone else has been using OSCulator to control OSC devices using MIDI. The latest version of AVBridge now supports basic MIDI to OSC conversion, and I'm open to handling more advanced use cases if you reach out to me using the live chat on the website.

I've interacted with OSCulator a lot over the years, especially when I was developing atemOSC, because atemOSC and OSCulator were often used together to allow controlling ATEM devices from MIDI. Sad to see it go so suddenly, but I understand as a software developer that software can't live forever, and I'm sure other community members will join me in making software to fill the gaps that OSCulator leaves behind.
