This isn't working for me using 2.13.3 and the latest El Cap. I fresh installed, uninstalled, installed legacy and back and nothing is working for me. What happens for me is if I press anything on the wiimote the bluetooth preferences shows it as connected for a few seconds while the led lights blink then it disconnects. Same thing trying to get it to connect with Osculator, except Osculator toggles from Stop Pairing to Start Pairing as if it connected, when I press the red button. There's nothing more to it really. Also using the Nintendo RVL-CNT-01

I have tried everything and osculator just doesn't pick it up nor does it stay connected longer than a few seconds in preferences. I also tried with 2 different wiimotes. I'm using the latest stable version as you stated above already and no matter what I do it won't connect. Even did a PRAM reset.Last edited by CyX BeAtZ; 03-05-2016, 04:41 PM.Professional Music Producer, Healer and more

Just tried Darwiin to see if it's an OS problem connecting and it connected but showed no feedback. I haven't gotten it to work since El Cap. It's never worked for me on this OS and no way I can go back to Yosemite at this point :\Last edited by CyX BeAtZ; 03-05-2016, 04:42 PM.Professional Music Producer, Healer and more

I almost took a short video of all the steps I took but didn't want to seem invasive. I've done all of that as well and when pressing buttons on the wiimote, it doesn't connect. I also deleted the bluetooth plist and restarted to refresh it. This is what made me give up before but I decided to give you a shout here and see if there's anything that can be done that I haven't tried.Professional Music Producer, Healer and more

Late 2011 15" MBP. I tried this in 64 and 32 bit mode and both result in the same that I show in the video. Screenshot 2016-03-09 13.03.39.pngProfessional Music Producer, Healer and more

Hi,
The video is super useful, thanks for sharing!
So, it looks like the behaviour after pairing the Wiimote looks normal. I know this is confusing that nothing seem to happen, and I am thinking about a way to notify the user that something actually happened.
Here is an explanation:
Starting with OSCulator 2.12, a new way of connecting the Wiimote has been put in place to accomodate for newer Wiimote models.
This new method relies on a two phase setup :
1/ pair the Wiimote with your computer
2/ every time you want to connect the remote to your computer, just press any button on the Wiimote until it connects to your computer. OSCulator doesn't even need to be launched for the Wiimote to connect to your computer (however it needs to be on to do something useful).
In the begining of your video, you show that you pair the Wiimote and then nothing happens. This is because the Wiimote has been successfully paired and that you now just have to press any button on the remote to get it connected to your computer. This is explained in the FAQ here: http://www.osculator.net/forum/threa...OSCulator-2-12
If this is not clear enough, please let me know and I'll try to make it shorter and/or easier to understand.
You should be able to connect your Wiimote by following the second step (since you already performed the first step).
Please let me know how it goes.
Best,

that's exactly what I was doing. I was pressing all and any of the buttons and it was connected on the Mac but would disconnect after a few seconds of the LED lights blinking. In the bluetooth preferences you can see it say connected then disconnected. I've tried everything you've thrown at me so far and demonstrated in the above video.
The very last example shows I pair it initially and it stays connected in preferences until the Led lights stop blinking but osculator stops trying to pair. If I press the red button again after it's paired, it stops trying to pair again and in preferences it shows as connected until the led lights go off. If I continually press a button or multiple buttons it blinks and isn't recognized in osculator and continues to try to pair the device but in preferences shows as connected for the duration of the led lights blinking.
From what I said above that pretty much narrows it down to Osculator not completing the 2nd part of the connection to the wiimote since it continues to try and pair until it times out or I press the red button, even if I continually press buttons which shows as connected when doing so in preferences.
Other bluetooth devices connect and have no problems but my two wiimotes can't connect. The one you saw and a lego one I purchased for the kids.

The pairing process (press "Start pairing" then press red button on the Wiimote) stores your computer's address in the remote. Once this is done, there is no need to press "Start pairing" again to connect the Wiimote. In fact the pairing process must not be running while you connect a Wiimote.

All I'm saying is this is the only thing that stops Osculator from trying to pair with the wiimote. Oh I see. Yea it doesn't connect regardless, even if it's not pairing.
I press a button and It shows as connected in preferences until the led lights stop blinking, while it's not pairing and osculator does nothing.Last edited by CyX BeAtZ; 03-10-2016, 12:58 AM.Professional Music Producer, Healer and more

I'm going to try on my girls Macbook to see if the same happens for her. If you have any other suggestions or fixes I can try, I'd be more than happy to try.Professional Music Producer, Healer and more

Hi,
As you previously mentioned you installed the "legacy" version, so it is possible that you also installed the old kernel extension. This kernel extension is no longer compatible with the new way of connecting Wiimotes (in fact, it is not needed anymore).
I would be surprised that the kernel extension loads on your computer since it is not designed to run over OS X El Capitan's new security model (System Integrity Protection).
So what you can do is see if the extension is installed by looking in /System/Library/Extensions for a file called OSCulatorIOKit.kext. If it is present, launch OSCulator, go to the preferences and in the output tab uncheck "Install Extension". This will have the effect of safely removing the old extension. Then restart your computer and check again that the extension is gone.
I honestly don't believe this is the reason why it does not work on your computer, but it is the most likely.
Best,
